The US Postal Service (USPS) does allow for package tracking, I think this
is a red herring thrown out by Tux to cover their mistakes.
Of course, you have to ask for it and it does require extra book keeping on
your part, but they do allow for package tracking.

What URL am I supposed to use with the jigdo-lite script? I used
http://us.cdimage.debian.org/jigdo-area/current/jigdo/i386/ as well as
some others that I found in the mirrors.jigdo file. They all got errors:
jigdo: http://us.cdimage.debian.org/jigdo-area/current/jigdo/i386/
Downloading .jigdo
load those links into your browser and then choose a specific jigdo
file.
then run jigdo-lite using the link of the specific jigdo file that you
need / want
jigdo should then connect and start the download process
