True - most of the older bios's do not support multi-boot, or support badly.
Hence my interest in using Bart's diskemu utility. So long as a system will
support booting a single image from cdrom, diskemu will give you a nice menu
to allow choosing from a number of bootable images.

I asked this some months ago and didn't get much of a response.
It's all well and good to have the main bootable image on the CD, but if you
need the IDE or COMPACT one, you have to make a diskette. It would be m

That is, boot a menu that allows a choice of boot kernels to use.
Modern bioses will allow multiboot CDs to work, but not all bioses work
properly. I only have one (out of nine) system at home that will boot a
multiboot
