Yes, libdbus is a piece of sh*te that doesn’t support upgrades. n...@11.
AFAICT gnome-panel isn’t among the applications that just die, though.

I don’t think this race condition is relevant. The only thing that can

Let’s wait to see what upstream has to say about whether this is the
proper fix.

Isn’t it also time to move the engines to the multiarch path? Currently
Adwaita is not usable by applications of a non-native architecture.

Argh, it’s my bad. Sorry for the typo and thank
same user presumably.
This looks like a very serious design issue with gvfs indeed.
Has this been forwarded to bugzilla.gnome.org or discussed on upstream
mailing lists somewhere?

for the moment. This is precisely the kind of code that can
trigger later the kind of bug you are trying to fix.
OTOH the risk is low, since dbus-glib is a dying library.
Maybe we should just port GConf to GDBus instead, which doesn’t have
this issue, but this is not a small change.

I am convinced your patch is a
bad idea, since it will fix banshee but might trigger crashes in other
applications.
Only a port to GDBus would do the trick, unfortunately.

Another possible fix is for menu-xdg to add a X-Debian category for all
generated desktop files, in addition to the current X-Debian-foo-bar.
This way we can blacklist all such entries at once.

imp opening PDFs is a bug in
gimp, not a bug in evince. Furthermore, it only happens with the XDG
system outside GNOME/KDE, not with the old MIME system, since gimp
doesn’t ship a legacy MIME file.
I’d appreciate if the release team and CTTE could avoid basing their
decisions upon such misinfo

As explained on IRC, they would if at the *very least* they supported
GTK3.

There is also the problem of GNOME keyring integration; not having it
would be quite the security regression. This is a big point in favor of
chromium instead of iceweasel.

Certainly not.
First of all, please refrain from uploading until the TC has made a
decision.
Second, if evince.mime has to be re-added, it is only for
application/pdf.
