I can confirm this bug, udev 147 erases/blanks my RW media completely aswell.

I saw that libc-bin breaks libc6 (<< 2.9). Perhaps this is enought to
avoid breakage when upgrading from lenny (where libc6 is 2.7-18).

I had the same problem with gimp crashing, too. The culprit was
"~/.local/share/mime/mime.cache" I deleted it and all is fine!!!
