I just found out that if I replace 'sid' with 'unstable', the problem
gets fixed. What's surprising is that I've always been using 'sid'

I raised severity because thoggen is simply unusable for Etch, and
Etch should only have functional software. Similar case with Pitivi
(#359803) which was luckily removed from Etch.
