I got the same error updating the package.
In total this six links ip6tables, ip6tables-restore, ip6tables-save,
iptables, iptables-restore and iptables-save links in /sbin were the
culprits, so a fix should be easy.

dpkg-reconfigure grub-pc ran without problems. I did not recreate the
pre-upgrade situation - sorry, no valueable data there.

For other users bitten by this bug I just wanted to add that the manual
installation of grub (grub-install /dev/sdX and update-grub) works. A
following reboot produces no error and grub 2.00 seems to work as wished
for.

Hi Michael, hi dear Debian Maintainer,
I can confirm this bug.
After upgrading my Debian Sid box grub throw an error at me but
proceeded booting after pressing enter.
Since I am not that deep into grub2 features I cannot provide more
details by my self. I will of course run more commands or subm
