I rebuilt the cups-filter package locally and installed these:
cups-filters_1.0.34-3_amd64.deb
libcupsfilters1_1.0.34-3_amd64.deb
libfontembed1_1.0.34-3_amd64.deb
and then printing works.

Currently pdftk cannot be installed due to
dependency on libgcj8-1.
It seems libgcj8-1 has been removed from sid,
