Package: gnome-shell Version: 3.4.2-12+b1 I have the same situation as described here. Gnome-shell starts but any action causes it to hang. I have also found a bug filed against gnome-core that is due to the same problem (I suppose). It is http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=720297
