It seems that lguest.c is a userspace program and that it should indeed
depend off-the-tree libraries (there's nothing wrong with that).

Sorry, libgcj-common of course does Depend on python and python-central; the
fact that python wasn't getting installed was due to broken local builds on my
pbuildd system (I was trying to resolve some circular build dependencies and
dropped python as a build dependency in an intermediate build).

It's not sure this will fix the FTBFS as a similar issue still exists in

Of course right after I post that I find the package that provides the
module requested. It appears that installing liblua5.1-filesystem0
allows the wsapi files to load, so I suppose liblua5.1-wsapi1 should
