agreed to apply this patch in the upcoming reiserfsprogs-3.6.20.
Please consider if it may be valuable to apply the patch even for

EDIT 2:
Repeating the procedure on the neighbouring machine (blade-3) I noticed with
great pleasure that the installation procedure was FLAWLESS!!!
It worked like a charm, I just could not believe it!
But this time I did the following:
* I selected (mac-usb-us) instead of default (mac-usb-uk) keyboard layout.
* I let the parted format the separate /boot partition with ext2 filesystem
(so the SILO could be installed correctly)

All in all, I did the following:
* I used the current daily netinst CD image (BTW, updated Polish
translation in the installer is a very nice touch!)
* The disk I've used has been partitioned like:
/dev/hda1 2.0 GB (root ext3 fs for "debhost")
/dev/hda2 2.0 GB (root ext3 fs for "debinst")
document.
This problem reveals itself mostly in Debian and not in Ubuntu,
as with the latter sudo is being used as a default setting.
However, I was able to reproduce the same behavior in Gentoo, so
the problem doesn't seem to be distro-specific.

There is indeed a problem with apt translations. The build process of apt
package splits one big .po file into smaller ones, for different programs
and libraries from apt family. One of them is the libapt-pkg, which is used
by other frontends, like aptitude, synaptic and update-manager.
