I tried Marcel's solution because my home folder also had 775.
Changing it to 755 solved the issue. May I suggest to have the error
message change to reflect this knowledge?

it is a problem related to wpa_supplicant, but
I cannot put my finger on it. Manual configuring with iwconfig and

Doing some research gave this possible solution:
All AP which is working does not support WPA2.

Proof:
Apply patch provided by Vincent Lefevre to /usr/sbin/mailgraph which
will be applied cleanly. This proofs that the patch is not applied and
never have been applied to the file.
