Ignoring the .pyc and .pyo files would change the behaviour compared

I've done some testing, and it turned out that this bug is a regression
between the versions 1.0.4-2sarge9 and 1.0.4-2sarge10. The backported
version 1.5.dfsg+1.5.0.7-2~bpo.1 is not affected.

The fetchmail configuration in itself is OK.
My standard recommendation however is to add "uidl" after pop3,
does this help as a workaround?

What's "festival-text2wav"? It's not shipped with the festival package.
"text2wave" is, and works here.
