splashy_config now writes a note asking users to run update-initramfs.
Note that Splashy is not a debian-only software and it should not call

This is perfect!
Thanks, I'll commit a fix to the repository today and ask the Debian
developers to upload this as 0.3.10-3.
You saved me a lot of time
t crash when this happens. We will look into
this.

Ok, so this is not a problem with Splashy then.
Remove "splash" from the kernel arguments and leave only "VGA=791". If your
system doesn't boot or if dfbinfo still does not work, then you just need to
switch your kernel to one that works. Or, change your video card ;-) ATIs
are really bad.
not "early" enough for your installation of LUKS?
Why don't you move the Splashy script where it make sense for your system
and redo your initramfs?
Splashy (or any other applications) won't be "panacea". Meaning, there is no
perfect solution for all systems w
Can yout ry the following fix:
Edit /etc/lsb-base-logging.sh
At the end of stop_splashy() edit it like:
...
# Before X starts we need to turn off the cursor to avoid artifacts:
for i in 7 8 9 10 11 12; do
if [ -c /dev/tty$i ]; then
setterm -cursor off > /dev/tty$i ||
splashy. That is too late.

move $all and check how usplash does this.

Try the same with evey other Debian package. Files under /etc are not
removed unless you use --purge. See Splashy README and the FAQ section
on the wiki.

I
don't think we need to chvt to vt 8 any more. The other reason to use
tty8 was for it not to show any text before gdm/kdm/xdm/X started, but
we can go around this by simply clearing the content of tty1 from the
splashy script before we exit.
Whoever wants to troubleshoot their system w
No. You need to run: update-initramfs -u. That's all.
We will add a note to splashy_config itself since nobody reads the
documentation before reporting bugs.

Is this right?
/etc/init.d/splashy is supposed to turn off the cursor and turn it
back on before X starts. Something is out of order in your system, or
the script is doing some form of a race condition.
Can you verify that you have the right /etc/init.d/splashy script?

I had a look at uswsusp suspend command (called from within initrd)

splashy?
