Looking a bit deeper, it seems this bug has already been resolved by
eog developper. Here the gnome bug report:

This bug has been resolved in eog 2.26.3 . This version is available
since 1st july.

This bug is enterly related to bash, not bash-completion, since
"menu-complete" is a native bash command.
I am pretty sure that reassign this bug to bash-completion package is an error.

I maybe posted the bug too fast. It seems more related to the libexif
package. I don't know how to migrate the bug.
Reading the exif informations with exiv2 gives me the the following
error for each Canon pictures:
