After filing this bug a long time ago, I just tried to reproduce it and
it seems to be fixed now. I'm not sure exactly when it got fixed, but here are
the relevant package versions on my system now.

Package: mediawiki-math

The mediawiki-math does not work without php4-imagick (at least, it is
not obvious how to make it working without it). So either the dependency
should be added to the mediawiki-math or some kind of README with
instructions to setup the math support.
