Note that this issue prevents the installation of VMware, which
(perfectly reasonably) compares compiler versions used to build the
kernel against those installed on the system.

I just looked at the changelog. It is set to use the -n (no startup)
switch when run from the menu to alleviate the problem where fusion-icon
would restart compiz using its own parameters when the user preferred
the compiz-manager parameters that on Debian are invoked by the compiz

unpack. Yet aptitude will swear that it is installed.

After python on Squeeze got updated today to 2.6, I experienced this bug
as well. I tried deleting the ~./hplip folder and logging back in but
