After an automatic upgrade of gpm, gpm failed to work. I reverted to
the previous version using
dpkg -i {gpm,libgmpg1}_1.19.6-25_i386.deb
The next time an automatic upgrade came along, it wanted to install
the faulty gpm stuff again
