It's obvious that this issue is _not_ a bug in lintian but solely a

add autopkgtests. (But I don't think I should add autopkgtests
just to add adequate -- IMHO it doesn't suffice, except for maybe pure
documentation packages without functionality.)
Hrm, maybe it would be helpful if adequate ships an example for that
in /usr/share/doc/examples/ or suc
dpkg-divert's job.
I'm neither sure where to actually file a bug report for that issue
nor which severity it should have (I can imagine everything, from
minor to grave -- as it deletes a file installed by another package).
Any advice or comment is appreciated.
here's a chance to fix this issue, it should be fixed
before the freeze for Jessie.
I checked the upstream bug tracker and found only one entry similar to
this issue. Unfortunately it was tagged "invalid":

Dear Jakub,
it would be nice, if the adequate package would ship examples for how to
use adequate with autopkgtest.
My suggestions:
Example debian/tests/adequate:

#!/bin/sh

Hi Jeff,
thanks for the quick feedback!

I'll ask in the Debian Perl Group's IRC channel.

See https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=591386#10 for
comments of a Hurd porter.
Hope this helps. Thanks for looking into these issues!

adbclient? Would that work? (And again, yes, I know it
would be a policy violatiuon and sacrilege to upload such a package,
but I still think it's an interesting mind experiment and I may try it
in a pbuilder environment once or so. :-)

I'd really appreciate if sparc would be kept in the archive, but I
fear that's not realistic. So I think the best is probably to move it
to Debian Ports. :-(
R
, and updating the config.{guess, sub} files is sufficient.
It FTBFS if I use dh-autoreconf (and the clean target fails when I try
to clean up afterwards), but works fine with autotools-dev patch
provided by Logan Rosen.

Ok, thanks for the assessment. So for now it'll be the autotools-dev
variant.

Hi,
needrestart since version 0.8 throws tons of Perl warnings on at least
two of my machines (one Xen DomU VM with amd64 Sid and one EeePC 900A
with i386 Sid). Output on the Sid amd64 Xen DomU:
