Perhaps its getting stuck on apt-listchanges?
My offline update got stuck on boot. I pressed Q a couple of times hoping
it was just not displaying apt-listchanges but it didn't do anything.
I restarted my computer, installed the updates via synaptic and noticed no

shares on user accounts. The actual mounting is done by pushing a
custom /etc/security/pam_mount.conf.xml file to the clients where the
right davfs2 configuration is written.

I just ran across this bug after seeing "xprop -root -spy" at 1.8 GB
on my desktop, which has been running 30 days. This definitely needs

#768483 system freeze, usually on kernel upgrade or resume from hibernate

Fix committed to Alioth.
This fix has been accepted upstream; they found that it exposed another
bug that compare and type-convert don't properly handle constants
(http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/beignet/2014-November/004387.html),
so I included the fix for that as well.
My own testing
I don't know why you would expect me to have tried that, given that
there was no reasonable expectation that I would know any of that
information prior to now.
