Well,
I did debuild the package, rather than compile it on my own.
(Un)fortunately, the package, compiled directly on the machine, works
flawless.
I checked:
dll /usr/bin/nwchem
dll bin/LINUX64/nwchem
and they both use the same libraries.
So, it seems to me that the problem is to be ascribed to th

A good point. That's something I missed due to not using systemd in
wheezy.

So far, I have not had any other similar reports, and I don't see this
problem when I print. This makes diagnosis tricky.

Now the package is in jessie repositories, and the problem is fixed.

Hey Didier,
thanks for fixing this! The general idea looks good to me, I just have
some nitpicks which the Debian maintainers may or may not want to see
changed.

Happy to fix it, but I need to be able to reproduce it first, using only
libjpeg-turbo. Currently I cannot. I tried running
jpegtran -optimize -rotate 270 003632r270.jpg >out.jpg
and
jpegtran -progressive -optimize -rotate 270 003632r270.jpg >out.jpg

Looks like an improvement. Maybe just check whether "mandb" is on the
path with AC_CHECK_PROG, since other man(1) implementations

I had to change keep it as system() call as we are evaluating one unit
after another as the scripts can accepts multiple units, an
