This is problematic. First, you need to demangle the symbols in there
with c++filt (for examples, your package FTBFS on my host without
this).
I haven't looked into details of this particular package, but in general
unmangling rarely helps curing FTBFS

exact same bug now, but things are actually worse on gnome-shell 3.8.4-5.

I think this is a wider problem than just the alias command.
Something has broken between $realname and $from between 1.5.22-1 and
1.5.22-2
$realname is ignored and just the $from address is used when sending
email.
Also when querying an external address book, the real name is ignored.

The version I am using in which I encountered this bug and prompted me to
post is gnome 3.4.2 which is listed as 3.4+7+deb7u1 in synaptic so I think
that's the latest available for wheezy.
