I ran into the exact problem described in #575150 on a squeeze system.
When i upgraded lxde-core, lxde-common, and lxde to version 0.5.0-3
(now in unstable), the problem went away.

The request has been forwarded upstream and I'm awaiting a response.
Having been in touch with the author in putting together a package
that uses DKMS to build the module, I know that he is unlikely to have

i've merged 0.8 in git and updated the packaging to build with it,
