Could yu please go into detail more with your report. What exactly are
you doing to make your system hang? Did you just call "/etc/init.d/quota
off"? Did you start quota before that? Did you try just calling quotaoff
manually?

This is getting a bit mysterious.
I'm using the screen multiplexer "screen" (see debian package). And w3m
works in one instance of screen, but not in the other. I have no idea
what the difference between these two could be. $TERM="screen" in any
case. I strace'd both and made a diff between the

I think I have resolved this problem. I had set
/proc/sys/dev/cdrom/autoeject to 1 which caused this problem.
