Ah, I used plantuml-8038.tar.gz here, tha may explain the difference :)

The problem may be on our side: file plantuml-mit-8038.tar.gz may be buggy
(some files may be missing).
The GIT repository should be OK, but it's the GPL version. Don't know if
it's fine for you.
