Hi!
I should add that this problem was resolved by performing
'mdadm --zero-superblock' on the two partitions already removed from
the raid-1 arrays. But this should not be needed in order to get a
bootable system!

Hi!
The following sequence of operations made my system end up in booting
to emergency mode due to failure to assembly 2 of my raid-1 arrays,
md5 and md6.
1. Working system with 3 raid 1 arrays.
2. One disk start to report SMART errors.
