This update does not appear to fix the problem for me - it's still showing
the same issues when updated.
I use an installation without desktop environment (today).
And :
apt-get install xfce4 xfce4-goodies
startxfce4
apt-get install iceweasel
apt-get install chromium
I launch chromium -> Settings -> Make chromium the default browser.
(change nothing)
I launch iceweasel, Make iceweasel the default
I have the same bug I believe and have done for a couple of versions. It
happens when Chromium gives a prompt upon first running it saying that it
is not the default browser. I click 'make default browser' and the prompt
goes away - but it does not make chromium the default browser and the
prompt w

Actually, it's not clear at all. How are you trying to set the
default? What are the error messages if any? What other browsers do
you have installed that may be contending for the
