In addition, jumping to the next song or nearly any other task takes literally
minutes.
Since this bug not only affects me and makes banshee unusable in jessie, is it
ok to raise
the severity level?

A patch to fix this is in

and already commited to stable-2.6.
Could you please apply the patch to make banshee usable again?

Same here, and makes banshee quite unusable. Some snippets from the log:
banshee --debug-sql
shows after a couple of similar lines:
