I've had the same issue, and it was solved by installing desktop-file-utils.
This package is not listed as a dependency of icedove.

emails. Instead, it requires me to use a file system dialog to dig my
way down to /usr/bin/something, which is very unfriendly and slow.
Given that Debian has a standard for this
