Is there any outlook at all for a fix? It's quite obvious by now that it isn't
exactly easy - apparently involves a fuckton of other packages, etc, etc - but
it'd be great if we'd at least have a vague idea of how long we have to wait
before before cinnamon becomes usable again.
If not, there's no

I also have this bug running Debian in VirtualBox and VMware Fusion guests

I also have that problem on my notebook with intel gpu.
On same notebook I have also ubuntu with cinnamon 2.0.4 and has no

The freeze is still present in 1.7.4-2.2+b1.
I guess it's not directly a graphics driver error, not specific to one
GPU anyway. I'm on nVidia using the nvidia driver, while others
experienced the bug on Intel.

Confirmed that this bug still exists in cinnamin in sid (1.7.4-2.2). There's no
newer version in experimental as far as I can tell, and last activity on this
bug is dated well over three weeks ago already.
Any hint on how to solve this, or even a confirmation that the bug is being
worked on/fixed

Dear Maintainer,

I just successfully downgraded to work around this bug. I hope this info is
useful. Also on Intel gfx.
I was using Jessie with Cinnamon and not much else from Sid all up-to-date as

Hi,
Well, same here. At first I thought it was due to the cogl
transition (which just happened in Jessie), but I saw that
Michael gives priority to sid so it's clearly not related
to this transition.
So I searched what changes were committed to cinnamon 1.7.4-2.1+b1,
