Followup-For: Bug #718401
Unfortunately even the 'pkill gnome-panel' "workaround" seems to work only
once for me.
The second pkill causes a 'something has gone wrong, please logout' message.
The same problem can be observed without fiddling with plugs by switching
the primary display with xrandr.

Since the upgrade to gnome 3.8, the gnome panels do not adapt anymore to
screen resolution change.
It occurs when I unplug my laptop from its docking station and open its
integrated screen: the resolution changes from the resolution of my
