I contacted upstream, providing link to this bug and to the Debian
policy "8.1 Run-time shared libraries"
(http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-sharedlibs.html#s-sharedlibs-runtime).
It seems reasonable to them to update the SONAME next time they are
going to break ABI compatibility.

OpenFST 1.2-1 broke ABI without changing SONAMEs (at least
FLAGS_fst_pair_parentheses disappeared, probably more).
AFAICS OpenFST 1.3.2 breaks ABI again (an extra parameter was added to
the fst::StrToInt64 function).
