Sorry for the late answer...
Today I have tested the 2.4.0-4 version (testing) and it worked like a charm.
I installed the 3.0.0-1 (unstable) version too and it started without
problems...
So the bug is not reproduce able for me anymore.. thx for the effort!

Do you have a similar crash with other graphical Java applications?
e.g. jedit? I have a very similar issue with arduino and jedit on sid
with armel.
