Just wanted to follow up on this bug.
Apparently several people have found that the solution of building the
package with the additional dpkg-buildflags --get FFLAGS -g -O2 solves the

The file quoted above is obviously the /etc/ppp/options.xl2tpd (not the
/etc/ppp/options)

Thanks a lot for your help. I've tried adding the two options and the
problem remains.
For your information, when I actually assign an IP manually to the client
config (and use ipcp-accept-remote), then the connection works fine.
Here's my ppp option file:

Thanks a lot for having such a quick look at this.
I've tried to add the require chap but get the exact same error. I was
actually under the impression that the option require authentication
was enough, my bad!
What I read from, the logs the authentication is successful in both
