Ntfs-3g is installed. I have also ntfsprogs installed so I can format a
pendrive as ntfs but after doing this I'm not able to write on it.

After automatic mounting (GNOME) of any external NTFS media like pendrive or
external hard-disk there is no way to write on it. Every trial, even as root
ends up with a message "Operation not permitted". According to /etc/mtab the
media should me mounted rw.
