Still no chance with mesa 7.7-4 from unstable ?
Are you using latest X packages and 2.6.32 kernel ?
after your suggestion, I did:
apt-get install libglu1-mesa libgl1-mesa-dri -t unstable
and rebooted. Now blender does not crash when I slide a cursor. The
crash problem seems to be solve

Now I have : git describe -> mesa-7.7-rc2-1-108-g36461f0
After compilation, I did :
* cd lib/
* export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=${PWD}
* export LIBGL_DRIVERS_PATH=${PWD}
* export LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose
Problems :
* When running ~/mesa/progs/demos/gears, no window appears and I get :

Posting the last lines of “dmesg” might also help if you see anything
X or video-related.
In dmesg, I got this message several times :
[drm:i915_get_vblank_counter] *ERROR* trying to get vblank count for

Or use “ps faux|grep X”, and copy/paste
