As the original problem was caused by broken pdiff files on the official
mirrors and the question surrounding the --pdiff option has now been
resolved, I'm closing this report.

Since Lenny was released, I've been having a few problems mirroring Sid
and Squeeze. I can temporarily fix the problem by removing the .temp
directory, but the problem comes back again later (
