You need to use a matching userspace if you want to use userspace
suspend. Noone wrote compatiblity ioctl functions for this.

A little more info. I managed to resume from suspend once, then I tried
once again and this time the laptop froze. I didn't have time to test
reverting other commits yet.

I am unable to suspend my T61 thinkpad when using an amd64 kernel.
However, if I use linux-image-2.6.26-1-686 it works fine. Here's some
additional info on the failure:
