For me, the bug disappeard.
I noticed that my jre was from the sooo old sun-j2sdk1.5 package.
Installing sun-java5-sdk solved the problem.

For the record, the bug I described below (with failing double
registration) is in fact http://bugs.debian.org/468202
which is already fixed.
If you have the problem, use the work around described below to
fix your package and you'll be fine for the future.

I had this same problem too. Last night I installed sun-java6-jdk and
this morning it installed fine.
