I ran the same problem (libgnomevfs2-extra was not installed, so
gweather-applet stopped working).
I don't have g-d-e installed (evolution + epiphany + totem etc are
really a lot of space if I don't use them), so I didn't get the
dep for libgnomevfs2-extra.

If libgnomevfs2-extra is only recommended, surely the message "Retrieval
failed" could be changed to something more useful, like "install the
libgnomevfs2-extra package?"
