Hi Scott, I've tried to reproduce the problem you describe on a nearly identical machine (Ultra60, Elite3D framebuffer, up-to-date sid), and failed -- KDE started up just fine on startx. You can find my xorg.conf, the Xorg.0.log and the versions of the xorg packages I currently have installed
