Hi,
I've tracked down the problem to the faulty implementation of ffs()
function in dix/ffs.c, which will loop indefinitely if input is 0.

Executive Summary: I am working now (!!!)
Details:
- I took the xorg.conf you provided, and edited it to account
for my monitor. (Tweaked sync ranges, added '1600x1200' to modes).
This worked immediately.
- I then diff'd my working xorg.conf with the b
severity 395564 important
retitle 395564 [sparc] X server blocks/hangs on startup when "unix/:7100" is in
font path

Hi Scott,
I've tried to reproduce the problem you describe on a nearly identical
machine (Ultra60, Elite3D framebuffer, up-to-date sid), and failed --
KDE started up just fine on startx. You can find my xorg.conf, the
Xorg.0.log and the versions of the xorg packages I currently have
installed
