This feature is already implemented. Using dvd+rw-tools 6.1-3, some sample output: with a DVD-R $ dvd+rw-mediainfo /dev/hdc INQUIRY:[HL-DT-ST][DVDRAM GSA-H10N ][JL11] GET [CURRENT] CONFIGURATION: Mounted Media: 11h, DVD-R Sequential Media ID: MCC 01RG20 ^
