After investigation: this bug is related to #451791 -
xserver-xorg-video-intel: Fonts and many other items fail to render
legibly, because when I've added Option "AccelMethod" "XAA" to
/etc/X11/xorg.conf, it works.

I can't do anything because I can't see fonts. I can't see user input
(e.g. username) and fonts in the small windows (language, session,
operation).
