My observations when this bug occurs: a) chromium seems to be totaly unresponsive (clicking around, switching tabs, scrolling appears to do nothing) b) switching to a virtual terminal, e.g. Ctrl-Alt-F1 and then back to X11 makes it work again c) the browser catches up with all activities it failed

Hi, I upgraded VirtualBox to version 5.1.4 and noticed two things. First, each virtual machine creates two icons on the taskbar again (a LXDE user here) and second, the problem disappeared. So, in this version VirtualBox's behaviour reverted to that of version 5.0.20 . Everything works fine now

Hello. The file system on /usr/src I use is ext4 (rw,relatime,data=ordered). I can save the *.orig.tar.xz file from deletion and provide it, if needed for further analysis. Thanks.
