After enabling VAAPI driver for my Intel HD GPU the GPU hungs on every new
chromium tab, watching movies etc.

In the X-Server nouveau driver VDPAU captibilities are available
(xserver-xorg-video-nouveau).
But it seems that the VDPAU backend file (libvdpau_nouveau.so) is not available

Well, it seems that turning on numlock produces following errors:

(EE) XKB: Couldn't compile keymap
1st case: Using numlockx => error occurs
2nd case: Setting numlock to on in kcontrol => error occurs
3rd case: Setting numlock to on in kdmrc => error occurs

I was wrong. The patch was already applied to KDE 3.5.9. The problem is a
renamed variable.
Fedora solves the problem with a patch. The patch from
kdebase3-3.5.9-10.fc9.src.rpm is attached.

I'd installed a fresh Debian Etch on my PC. My motherboard is a ASUS P4PE with
ICH4 chip. Therefore the piix kernel driver was used.
