Today I made an update on another machine running Debian Squeeze.
Before the update the problem did not exist, it appeared after the

I also noticed this bug can be observed only with compiz running. When
running metacity everything is ok.

Soon after I wrote the previous message I realized it is very unlikely
that the problem was in desktop-base. I checked it and now I know that
the problem did not dissappear but it does not exist (and never did)
when you activate desktop cube instead of desktop wall. So it is a
problem of deskt

Looks like editing the file /etc/asound.conf fixed the problem.
Thanks, but shouldn't this be done automatically while installing
pulseaudio package?

Did not help :/ What I meant by saying "you cannot play" was that the
application opens the file but when you hit the play button nothing
happens.
