I experienced the same issue with Debian Stretch on an old Toshiba Satellite
A200 having the Intel GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller.
A workaround is to disable the SVIDEO connector (sources [1][2]) by adding

Sorry for the second message, I restarted gwibber and it seems to work
normally. I just closed all other applications and restarted it. But
