It seems like this service works fine if you recompile it with gcc-3.4
(allthough I was testing this on Ubuntu machines, I've got a hunch it
will work similarly)

Happening to have something called /etc/certs/imapd.pem should not cause
special behavior and cause it to move or delete a file that has an
unknown state of ownership or origin (auto-created or user created).

handle making new certificates and
migrating from imapd. This is far too much automated handholding and
must be disabled to prevent data loss.
Luckily I have backups. :)
