I don’t know what.
At the very least, what strikes me is that the directory
/usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/elpa/ess-18.10.2/ should not exist. It looks
like a remnant of an old ESS version that did not get purged on
he
Libs.private and Requires.private fields.²
