Hello,
I've found another method to connect using pptp:
Just put
iface pptp inet ppp
provider pptp
in /etc/network/interfaces and
noauth
defaultroute
persist
pty "pptp 10.0.0.138 defaultroute --nolaunchpppd"
into /etc/ppp/peers/pptp
best regards

Hello,
I use pptp for some time now by just
writing the pptp command in an "up" line.
example interfaces lines:
iface eth0 inet manual
up /sbin/pptp 10.0.0.138 defaultroute
down killall pppd pptp

;t support distribution migrations,
but I still think, that it's a bug for a package to require
a program (namely update-rc.d) which is included in the
package itself. The only possiblilty to solve this chicken-
egg problem is to use --force options.
best regards

When I remove /etc/init.d/halt and /etc/init.d/bootmisc.sh
before I call "apt-get --reinstall install initscripts",
the files halt and bootmisc.sh do not get restored.
