Hmmm, found it: "apt-get install lib32ncurses5" does the trick. But it looks like it's not yet migrated to the new multiarch framework, and does have a wrong dependency on "libc6-i386" instead of "libc6:i386", which unneceserly installes "/lib32/" variants, instead of "/lib/i386-linux-gnu/i686

The core library (e.g. "libc6") installed correctly, but I think, the new multiarch set of packages is still missing something: root@defaultvps:/opt/firebird# apt-get install libncurses5 Reading package lists... Done Bui

Thenx Thijs for quick response, I've looked up the debian-7 release notes, and its section on multiarchitecture - regretibly it doesn't explain much (like: how to have fine-controll over it), just confirms what you say. Anyway. I did: # dpkg --add-architecture i386 # apt-get update but after

I need to install firebird version 1.5 from thrd-party, and the package requires 32-bit environment, thus it needs "ia32-libs". Stil, "ia32-libs" has unmet dependency on " ia32-libs-i386", which is not available. 1. why "ia32-libs-i386" is not available if it's necesary (through dependency)?
